PhD Scholarships Studentships in the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the applicants of EU/ UK at Imperial College London, UK
Description: Applications are invited for six research studentships in the field of Nuclear Engineering, leading to the award of a PhD degree. The post is supported by a bursary and fees (at the UK/EU student rate) provided by Rolls-Royce. The studentship is for three years starting immediately and is available for UK and EU candidates meeting the Research Council criterion of having been resident in the UK for the previous three years. The security requirements are such that some of the positions will need to be filled by UK citizens, and in some cases a degree of security clearance will need to be undertaken. Rolls-Royce has recently founded a University Technology Centre in Nuclear Engineering, located in the Nuclear Research Group in the Mechanical Engineering Department. The Centre is launching a major research programme in the application of advanced analysis methods to fluid flow in nuclear reactors

Eligibility:
Candidates should have a very good first degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering or science subject, including a strong component of fluid mechanics and thermal-hydraulics, and have at least some experience in the application of computational fluid dynamics, and some knowledge of its physical and mathematical basis. You will need to be computer literate, and capable of using these tools effectively. You will become a skilled communicator, comfortable in an international situation. Good team-working, observational and communication skills are essential.
